After visiting with family and friends and reading several blogs, I thought it might be interesting, helpful and fun to find out what traditions others have in heir families. So, post some Christmas traditions you love. It doesn't matter how silly, or miniscule you might think it is, just post it! I need ideas for my own growing family.
wellllllll..... i'll go first:) one of my favorites is the night we camp out under the Christmas tree in the living room and then this is the first year we did the gingerbread house party with lane's friends but it was soo fun---we will continue!!!!
ReplyDeleteOH I loved those pics of the party, and thanks for posting that about the campout. I am SO going to do that. Thanks for kicking it off!
ReplyDeleteEvery Christmas eve we get to open one present...every year it is our Christmas PJs! We also leave Santa strawberry milk instead of regular milk. We just started a new one for the adults with my dad, we all buy an As Seen On TV gift and do a "white elephant" type of gift exchange, it was a lot of fun yesterday. Some people actually got attached to some of the gifts and didn't like when they were stolen! I think we will continue that one!
ReplyDeleteWe get Ashlen an ornament each year that represents something that was special to her that year. This year she is into Blue's Clues so that's what ornament we got her. Also, when we go on vacation, we get either an ornament or something to turn into an ornament and hang them all on one section of our tree. It's fun to reminisce about our trips.
ReplyDeleteKim- I read that on another blog about the ornaments and I love that idea. I definitely want to do that! Brian and I have tried to remember to do that on our vacations. WE failed miserably in Europe though =(
ReplyDeleteHeather- Love the Christmas PJs!
I like the idea of getting an ornament to represent something from their year. We let Jo pick a new ornament every year, but I like that idea way better! I may have to start doing that!
ReplyDeleteDitto on the ornaments . . . Stephen and I have done that every year since we were married (11 years now). We love hanging them on the tree every year and looking how our lives have changed . . . for things that we did that it was hard to find ornaments for we made picture ornaments . . . a picture of us on the 4-wheelers in Moab for example. We have ornaments representing our dogs, trips we have taken, adoption, our new house. We also each year get one special ornament for the kids so that when they leave our home some day they will have ornaments to start their own tree with some day.
ReplyDeleteOne thing you could still do . . . get an ornament and stamp natalie's hand on it with paint. Write the year on the back and you have a great memory of how little they were. I did that with Jadon starting last year and we turned the fingers into little snowmen. I think I have pics on my facebook of that ornament. I still need to do this years . . . with Jori and Jadon . . . running a bit behind :-)
